Dolphin Magic Tours was originally founded by Captain Derek Brown in the Summer of 1999. The 41 foot twin, turbo diesel has a maximum capacity of 44 people. The tour boat is located in Savannah, Georgia at the Heart of River Street on the starboard (right) side of the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
We invite you to come aboard, sit back and relax and enjoy a two-hour narrated cruise along Savannah’s historic waterways out towards Tybee Island. See such sights as Savannah’s historic waterfront, the Waving Girl, Fort Jackson, Fort Pulaski, Cockspur Island, the Cockspur Island Lighthouse, Tybee Island and the Tybee Island Lighthouse.* (Route and trip duration may vary depending on dolphin location and weather conditions). What makes our dolphin tour different from the competition?
Funny you should ask…well, our sister company Capt. Derek’s Dolphin Adventure departs from Tybee Island. If you are looking for a dolphin tour departing from Tybee, just give them a call at (912) 658-2322, or you can visit their website at www.tybeedolphinadventure.com. We may be biased, but we do think Capt. Derek’s offers a quality tour as well.
There are other dolphin tours in the area, but we like to think that we do things differently and those subtle differences can make your tour much more enjoyable!
On our tours, you are welcome to bring whatever you want to eat or drink on board. We do sell drinks if you prefer to purchase from us, but we want you to be happy, so feel free to bring what you want. Little coolers are fine.
Our boats have higher horsepower engines which produce a large wake (waves behind the boat). Dolphins just love to jump in our wake. (if dolphins are mating or feeding we will not attempt to get them to jump)
We do not force you to stand for the duration of the tour. Everyone gets a seat, and you are welcome to walk around once the all clear has been given. There is plenty of shade on each boat as well as uncovered areas for those who like the sun.
Our captains and first mates really care (and at times stress) about your safety, comfort, and happiness. While this may seem like a silly point to make, it does matter. There are companies that will force passengers to stand on the seats to get a view of the dolphin. There are companies that do not offer a dolphin guarantee and companies that may cut corners on boat maintenance and crew standards. Rest assured, we do not cut corners. We want our passengers to have a great experience while doing so with the utmost safety in mind!

Our Dolphin Guarantee
Rest assured, we do offer a dolphin guarantee! We would love to say that we find dolphin on every tour, but dolphin are wild animals, and every now and then we get… well, we get “skunked”. If you don’t find dolphin on a
tour, you are welcome to go again for free. Our dolphin guarantee has no expiration date! We flag the trips that do not find dolphin so that there is no hassle when you take us up on your guarantee.
We are Pet Friendly
We are pet friendly as long as the pet is people friendly. If your dog is a “barker” please be considerate of your fellow passengers, and do not bring the dog on board. Also, we ask that your pet be up to date on all his or her vaccinations. Please call us to check availability prior to booking online. We don’t want too many dogs on any given trip, so we will limit the number of pets when necessary. Also, please remember that our tours are quite lengthy, so be sure to bring water for your dog (especially in the summer months). And our pet friendly policy is for dogs only, and it certainly does not include pet reptiles. Yes, we had an albino python once, so we feel forced to amend our pet policy. 🙂
While our boat is handicapped accessible, we do ask that you call to check availability prior to booking. There are occasions in which we may use a different boat that may not be handicapped accessible. While our boat is handicapped accessible, our bathroom is not. There are steps down to the bathroom, so plan accordingly.
There is a parking lot that borders our dock. This parking lot has very limited handicapped parking, so please make sure to arrive early in case you need to drop off your handicapped passenger.
Where the heck are we?
We are located at 313 E. River Street across from the Shrimp Factory Restaurant. Look for our ticket booth and dolphin statue at the edge of the parking lot (directly across from the main entrance to the Shrimp Factory). At times, our ticket seller will go on the tour as the first mate or will take a much needed break. If you get to our booth and no one is there, don’t panic! If you are driving, please allow a lot of extra time to find parking. Parking lots on River Street operate on a first come-first served basis. While there is a parking lot that borders our dock, it can fill up during peak times and during peak seasons. Parking lots are either metered or pay by the hour or by the day. There are a few free parking spaces in the River Street area, but those areas tend to stay filled. Please be aware that we do not issue refunds to people or groups who miss the boat, so make sure to allow plenty of time to get to us
